Data Scientist at Edge Health (London · Full-Time)


At Edge Health, we believe that data and analytics have the potential to transform policy-making and operational efficiency within the NHS. We are a start-up based in London, delivering consultancy and developing data products to help unlock this potential for our clients. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our growing team. Key skills and competencies we are looking for include:

  • Passion for working in healthcare, and experience of having done so

  • Technical skills and experience, such as modelling, econometrics and/or machine learning

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a range of clients


About us:


Edge Health is a start-up of economists and data scientists with backgrounds in statistics, management consulting and healthcare. We have worked for many years with the NHS, including hospitals and policy makers, so we are familiar with their intimate workings and challenges. We are now using new technologies centred around use of data, econometrics, data science and machine learning to solve these issues.

Since our formation in February 2017 we have grown rapidly and worked with more than 20 NHS organisations, including trusts, commissioners and regulators.




Job description & responsibilities:

We are looking for an analyst to join our team full-time in London. Our consulting business focusses on both the delivery of one-off projects to meet clients’ needs, and the development of repeatable propositions to take to market. We are searching for an analyst to join this team and support the delivery of consulting projects as well as potentially work on the product side depending on ability and preference. Key responsibilities within this role include:

  • Applying technical & industry expertise: Applying technical and/or healthcare experience to deliver high-quality and robust work ranging from data architecture to client outputs;

  • Project delivery: Supporting project delivery where required, overseen by Consultant or Senior Consultant and led by a Director.

  • Innovation: Proactively learning from past projects and experiences to build and develop new propositions for use within the health sector;

  • Business development: Supporting the wider growth of Edge, through development of marketing material and team training and development.

Desired skills & experience:

We greatly value diversity and would welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds. Our required skills and experience include the following:

  • One year of professional experience, working in a healthcare, consulting, research, modelling or related setting;

  • Technical skills in the field of statistics or machine learning, developed either through academia or professional experience;

  • Technical skills in the field of data admin including working with SQL databases, integration engines, linux servers etc.

  • Be highly motivated, self-driven and versatile, and excited to work within a small and growing start-up where roles can vary;

  • Have the ability to engage effectively and enjoyably with a range of people, and to communicate impactfully the findings and implications of their work;

  • Have a knowledge of coding in R and or Python;

  • Have experience with Git, linux, SQL, Mirth;

  • Have experience of delivering projects and outputs to tight timescales and to a high quality;

  • Take proactive responsibility for personal development, and the development of individuals and teams around them
