At Edge Health, we believe that data and analytics have the potential to transform decision making, policy, quality and efficiency within the NHS. We are a small analytics firm based in London, delivering consultancy services and developing data products to help unlock this potential for our clients.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our quickly growing team. This role is suitable for recent graduates or anyone with up to one year of professional experience. Skills and competencies we are looking for include:

Passion for working in healthcare, and preferably some experience of having done so;
Technical skills and experience particular around data engineering or interest to learn with solid foundation in topics such as statistics, coding, data science, modelling or similar;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, across a diverse range of areas;
Enthusiasm for working closely with our clients and partner organisations as well as with other members of the Edge team.

About Edge

Edge Health is a boutique analytics firm of c.30 economists, data scientists and data engineers with backgrounds in economics, statistics, epidemiology, policy, management consulting and healthcare. We have worked for many years with NHS hospitals and policymakers, and are familiar with their challenges. We use new and diverse technologies centred around use of data to solve these issues at scale.
Since our formation in April 2017, we have grown rapidly and worked with more than 50 NHS organisations, including trusts, commissioners and regulators.

Job description and responsibilities

We are looking for an analyst to join our team full-time in London. Our consulting business focusses on both the delivery of one-off projects to meet clients’ needs, and the development of repeatable propositions to take to market. We are searching for an analyst to join this team and support the delivery of both our consulting and product work.

The organisations we work with have a wide range of needs, and differing levels of technical sophistication. We are committed to delivering work which brings the maximum benefit to our clients, patients, and the NHS, and doing this requires flexibility in the analytical approach we bring to each problem and an innovative mindset to use the best tools to get there.

Key responsibilities within this role include:

  • Project delivery: Taking responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of projects, overseen by Senior Analyst/Engineer, Consultant or Senior Consultant and led by a Director;
  • Applying technical & industry expertise: Applying engineering experience to deliver high-quality outputs for our clients;
  • Innovation: Proactively learning from past projects and experiences to build and develop new propositions for use within the health sector and improving the way we use data;
  • Business development: Supporting the wider growth of the Edge engineering capability, through development of marketing material, team training and development.

  • Be highly motivated, self-driven and versatile, and excited to work within a small and growing team;
  • Technical skills in the field of data analytics, economic modelling, or statistics, developed either through academia or professional experience;
  • Up to one year of professional experience, working in a healthcare, consulting, research, modelling, product or related setting;
  • Have the ability to engage effectively and enjoyably with a range of people, and to communicate impactfully the findings and implications of their work;
  • Have a knowledge of coding in SQL and preferably R or similar statistical languages, or a willingness and ability to learn how to do so;
  • Have experience of delivering projects and outputs to tight timescales and to a high quality;
  • Take proactive responsibility for personal development, and the development of individuals and teams around them.

    Location: We are based in London, but the nature of our work does require travel around England.

    Compensation:

  • Base salary starting from £40,000 per annum
  • Discretionary annual bonus (typically 10%+ of base)
  • 25 days annual leave a year, including the option of buying or selling additional days
