At Edge Health, we are passionate about using economics, data and analytics to transform policy-making and operational efficiency within the NHS. We are a start-up based in London, delivering consultancy and developing data products to help unlock this potential for our clients. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our quickly-growing team. Key skills and competencies we are looking for include:
Passion for working in healthcare, and experience of having done so;
Technical skills and experience, such as data economics, statistics, coding, data science or modelling;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, across a diverse range of areas.
Enthusiasm for working closely with our clients and partner organisations.
Edge Health is a start-up of economists and data scientists with backgrounds in statistics, policy, management consulting and healthcare. We have worked for many years with NHS hospitals and policymakers, and are familiar with their intimate workings and their challenges. We are now using new technologies centred around use of data to solve these issues at scale.
Since our formation in April 2017 we have grown rapidly and worked with more than 40 NHS organisations, including trusts, commissioners and regulators.
We are a client-facing organisation that sees the value in being close to the challenges we are helping to solve. We spend time working directly alongside our clients and enjoy seeing the direct impact of our work on patients and people who work in the NHS.
Job description & responsibilities
We are looking for a consultant to join our team full-time in London. Our consulting business focusses on both the delivery of one-off projects to meet clients’ needs, and the development of repeatable propositions to take to market. We are growing quickly as a business and are looking for an individual with a few years of professional experience who can integrate quickly into our team and support the growth of both our consulting and product businesses.
Key responsibilities within this role include:
Project delivery: Taking responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of consulting projects, overseen by a Director or Senior Consultant;
Applying technical & industry expertise: Bringing economics, modelling and/or healthcare experience to deliver high-quality outputs for our clients;
People management: Managing a team of 1-2 colleagues within larger projects;
Relationship-building: Building a strong network of clients and contacts within the health industry;
Innovation: Proactively learning from past projects and experiences to build and develop new propositions for use within the health sector;
Helping to win new work: Contributing to writing bids and responses to tender requests;
Business development: Supporting the wider growth of Edge, through development of marketing material and team training and development.
Desired skills & experience
We greatly value diversity and would welcome applicants from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. Our preferred candidate would have some or all of the following skills and experiences:
At least 3 years of professional experience, working in a healthcare or closely-related setting;
Technical skills in the field of economics, economic modelling, econometrics, statistics or machine learning, developed either through academia or professional experience;
Experience of managing, coaching, training and developing less experienced colleagues;
Experience of working day-to-day with clients or other organisations or teams in a professional setting;
Be highly motivated, self-driven and versatile, and excited to work within a small and growing start-up;
Have the ability to engage effectively and enjoyably with a range of people, and to communicate impactfully the findings and implications of their work;
Have a knowledge of coding in SQL and R or similar statistical languages, or a willingness and ability to learn how to do so;
Have experience of delivering projects and outputs to tight timescales and to a high quality;
Take proactive responsibility for personal development, and the development of individuals and teams around them
Details and how to apply:
Location: We are based in London, but the nature of our work does require travel around England. Though we are currently working remotely, we do expect the role to be at least partially based in the London office in future. We are open to flexible working arrangements where appropriate.
