About Edge


Edge Health is an exciting start-up of economists and data scientists with backgrounds in statistics, policy, management consulting and healthcare. We have worked for many years with NHS hospitals and policymakers, and are familiar with their intimate workings and their challenges. We are now using new technologies centred around use of data to solve these issues at scale.


Since our formation in April 2017 we have grown rapidly and worked with more than 40 NHS organisations, including trusts, commissioners and regulators.

As Edge develops it has become clear that there is a growing role for the development of Cloud based solutions for our clients, so that they can host, analyse and update their data in real-time through a secure environment.

Job description & responsibilities


We are looking for an Azure data/solutions architect to join our team full-time based in London. We are open to individuals based remotely depending on experience. We deliver product and consulting services to NHS organisations and are investing in our ability to implement these efficiently and at scale. We are growing quickly as a business and are looking for an individual with a few years of professional experience who can integrate quickly into our team and support the growth of both our consulting and product businesses.


Key responsibilities within this role include:

  • Project delivery: Owning the build and development process for project and product IT infrastructure, implementing and optimising Cloud data storage and data processing solutions using the Azure platform;

  • Support and maintain IT infrastructure: day-to-day management of IT systems and implementing industry best practice relating to security and data privacy standards;

  • Innovation: Proactively learning from past projects and experiences to build and develop new and scalable propositions for use within the health sector;

  • Business development: Supporting the wider growth of Edge, through development of marketing material and team training and development.


Desired skills & experience


We greatly value diversity and would welcome applicants from a range of academic and professional backgrounds. Our preferred candidate would have some or all of the following skills and experiences:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience, working in an IT setting, with experience in the healthcare industry preferable;

  • Experience scoping, building and managing Azure based cloud solutions;

  • Experience with the appropriate and representative languages but is not limited to: SQL, C#, PowerShell via Azure ADO and JavaScript, with experience in R a bonus;

  • Experience implementing security tools and developing/writing compliance-as-code, along with a strong understanding of best practice relating to security and data privacy standards

  • Experience of working day-to-day with clients or other organisations or teams in a professional setting;

  • Be highly motivated, self-driven and versatile, and excited to work within a small and growing start-up;

  • Have the ability to engage effectively and enjoyably with a range of people, and to communicate impactfully the findings and implications of their work;

  • Have experience of delivering projects and outputs to tight timescales and to a high quality;

  • Take proactive responsibility for personal development, and the development of individuals and teams around them

  • Location: We are based in London, but the nature of our work does require travel around England. Though we are currently working remotely, we do expect the role to be at least partially based in the London office in future. We are open to flexible working arrangements where appropriate.
