A strategy for AI ready data, analytics and reporting at a leading healthcare provider
Psychiatry UK (PUK) is a leading provider of online psychiatric services in the UK meeting growing demand for online mental health services. As PUK scaled, the pressure on its data, analytics and reporting function increased significantly and the operating model for a small firm was no longer fit for purpose.

PUK asked Edge Health to support its re-thinking of its Data Analytics and Reporting (DAR) strategy in light of this and over the course of 3 months, Edge Health and PUK partnered to co-develop a DAR strategy including a roadmap for implementation.
Approach
We co-developed the strategy through on the ground engagement, workshops and interviews as well as established frameworks. This allowed us to identify the vision and the gap between the current capabilities and the desired state. We then broke this down into key strategic pillars and developed the roadmap with the team to make a plan to achieve over the next 3-5 year period as well as make the case for investment.
Result
A roadmap to transform data, analytics and reporting across 5 key areas:
- Data Governance and Stewardship: The right governance to support improved data quality, consistency, and confidence in reporting as PUK continues to scale.
- Tools and Technology: The right tools to better support business needs and move towards self-service capabilities, increasing automation, and adopting modern platforms
- Processes and Ways of Working: Streamlining workflows and fostering greater cross-functional collaboration leading to more efficiency across the team.
- Capability and Skills: Development of data literacy across the organisation to empower teams to use data more effectively. In parallel, strengthening internal capacity within the team will support long-term sustainability and reduce reliance on external support.
- Visibility and Business Alignment: Improving transparency around reporting, data availability, and business logic will help teams better align insights with strategic objectives.
“It has been a pleasure working with Edge Health on our analytics strategy. They worked collaboratively with our team throughout the engagement, helping us shape and refine the final output. The strategy provides a strong foundation for the continued development of analytics at PUK, and we appreciate their support throughout the project.”

The strategy is now being implemented and is supporting PUK in moving from a large team reactively responding to requests to a leaner group with multiple sub-teams proactively building the infrastructure to enable AI and self serve analytics to support a growing business.
