Covid-19 sentiment survey

Published 9 October 2020

Before the second wave of Covid-19 infections started to hit, we did a survey of Covid-19 sentiment. We got over 240 responses from all age groups and, thanks to Facebook, a wide range of people from across the country.

The report on the survey is attached below.

Some highlights:

  • Overall, most of the population have changed their behaviour over the past six months, either willingly or unwillingly, to comply with new regulations at least partially

  • The opinions towards the Government’s response to the pandemic are polarised, going from “they should have done more and earlier on” to “they had no right to force any of this on people” in more recent months

  • The attitude towards the measures and the levels of compliance vary greatly between vulnerable and non-vulnerable groups of respondents, with the vulnerable group showing a much higher level of agreement and compliance with the Government’s measures
